The most important consideration when operating in steep conditions is to ensure safety at all times. Risk assessments are carried out prior to work commencing and operators are aware of environmental risks so that ongoing assessments are made during the operation. Additional safety measures may be required with the use of a ground anchor and winch, which can be used where conditions are particularly severe. The design of the tractor with low centre of gravity, very wide tyres and wheel base ensure that the machine is very sure footed and stable. This is coupled with the vehicles hydrostatic drive system and all wheel steering which allows the operator inch by inch control in the most demanding circumstances.
