The landowner or land manager now has the responsibility to avoid uncontrolled fires on heath and moor land. The implementation of fire breaks allows areas to be divided up into smaller pockets of land. If a wild fire occurs, the firebreak allows a natural interruption to the fires progress across often environmentally sensitive areas. If a planned burn is to be carried out the firebreak facilitates a safe area from where the fire can be controlled. The machine can be made available at planned burning operations so that in the event of a fire becoming out of control an additional firebreak can be cut ahead of the fire. Country Conservation are willing to invest in the water spraying equipment required to assist in the control of a heath or moor land fire, should the relevant authorities or organisations require this.
